My personal art is vulnerable, challenging, and intense. Now more than ever I feel compelled to make art focusing on humanizing trans people in a world that wishes we didn’t exist.

This kind of art is needed now more than ever. That’s where you come in! My hope is to move bigger and bigger audiences, but that requires even more time and money.

My work spans all mediums, but at my core, I am a storyteller. In a world full of pain, disillusionment, and isolation, vulnerable storytelling serves as an anchor to hope and solidarity.

How do I tell my stories? On the stage, in film, in gallery shows and through street art. With my words and my body. I follow the thread of the message to define the medium.

My current artistic exploration is in creatively and courageously documenting my transition to help humanize the transgender experience in the context of a world that seems to prefer I didn't exist.

She loves when creative ideas leap out of the mind and into the physical world -- onto the stage, into the streets, or intermingling with people in their daily lives. She's always working on something subversive or offbeat. Many things she can't capture, but some she can:

Echoes

An environmental piece that is less meant to be gotten than to be felt, sat in, disenchanted by to create an ethereal sense of the passage of time, resolve and futility in the effort to be woman enough. A film on loop of the artist bathing projected onto a shower curtain. Cacophonous audio reading by the artist of the chapter Mauve in Colors – her various attempts at creating a satisfactorily feminine voice layered over each other to create an unsettling echo. The bathtub sloshing. A drip. Dim candles lighting the space.

If I Give You My Sorrows

Ensemble. Dance representing the experience of incarcerated women through movement. Supported by National Endowment for the Arts.

mySight

Creator. A satirical street theater campaign to illuminate the toxic relationship of tech in San Francisco to the unhoused population. Funded by the Awesome Foundation.

Welcome to Bethany

Co-writer. A multi-night stage show for a 1700-person audience. Audience in put influenced the direction of the show.

If He Won Again

Creator/Installer. A subversive ad takeover on Bay Area public transit to implore people to get involved with the 2020 election.

Dice of Destiny

Creator/Fabricator. A self-run game of chance and Calvin-and-Hobbes like space time shenanigans installed at various West Coast festivals.

Funeral for Democracy

Co-Producer/Writer. A July 4th funeral in front of San Francisco City Hall to mourn the loss of our democracy during the trump era.

Haight Free Love

Creator/Producer. A series of in-the-street events reclaiming the roots of the Haight Ashbury culture of love and community.

Ugly Christmas Sweater

Creator / Puppeteer. A comedy / horror show centered around holiday working conditions.

EXHIBITIONS

The art world can feel stuffy and inaccessible, so she likes to build her own bridge by creating immersive exhibitions and bringing in local artists to participate on a theme.

She and her co-producers turned a gallery into a convenience store where all the art was "products" making commentary on capitalism and the corruption of value. Over 40 artists participated. Sold-out two week run at the Pro Arts Gallery in downtown Oakland, CA.

It's hard to beat the magic of the camera for storytelling. She loves carefully crafting each moment on a set to help make ideas come to life. And she loves how no matter how tightly planned a shoot is, there are always emergent creative problems to solve and unplanned moments that breathe freshness into a vision.
